A & B Promoted at New York Street Festival

New York, NY – The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Team in United States continues with intensive promotions at various lifestyle shows throughout the United States, to ensure that the destination remains visible among consumers, in an ever increasingly competitive leisure market.

For the second year, Antigua and Barbuda participated in the 92nd Street Y Fair, on Lexington Avenue, between 79th and 96th Streets in New York City. The festival featured cultural performances, games, food and a sampling of the Y’s community programs. At this ‘first of the fall” event, over 300 vendors including 4 destinations, lined the streets and offered a range of products and services. More than 10,000 consumers attended this year’s event and hundreds of festival attendees who were looking to plan a vacation stopped by Antigua and Barbuda’s booth to learn more about special packages and offers and to learn more about all of the attractions that the destination has to offer.

Tourism Officer Shermain Jeremy, who led this promotional effort, indicated that the event provided significant exposure to residents on the Upper Eastside who are typically good sales prospects for the Antigua and Barbuda product. “Our strategy is to target consumers where they live, work and play, through face-to-face experiences that help to position our brand. Using steel band music, carnival dancers and cuisine, we created a live translation of our brand that engaged consumers. By incorporating our unique culture into this promotion it helped create an experience that consumers connected with and helped to generate significant interest in the destination. Jeremy also added that by partnering with this legendary institution, Antigua and Barbuda will continue to be recognized for its support of community development, among the affluent close knit membership of the 92nd Street Y.

As today’s consumers continue to demand more value for money, the Tourism team had a unique opportunity to connect with consumers as they strolled through the fair to participate in and support this widely celebrated community event. Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism product was promoted among a diverse range of products and services to include jewelry, small crafts, fashion, cultural cuisine and entertainment as well as specialty products and services.

Since 1874, the 92nd Street Y has been serving the residents of Upper Eastside in New York by providing exceptional programs across the spectrum—in the arts and culture, education, health and fitness, personal growth and travel, and offers classes for adults, families and children. This unique, multifaceted non-profit institution, serves over 300,000 people annually, from newborns to centenarians.
